Newcastle Stampede is an annual muddy obstacle course run hosted by Newcastle Racecourse to help raise money for charity. They have two days of rolling starts for the main run and host a mini Stampede for children to get involved too. Being lovers of mud runs, this project was right up our street and one we were very excited about filming. Filming involved getting up before dawn on both days of the event to give us time to setup, plan our routes and catch the beautiful early morning sunrise breaking over the trees of Gosforth park, before the first wave of elite runners. Between a crew of 2 people we captured the event from multiple angles through careful planning and a lot of running.
Okay so one of us may have done a bit more exercise than the other by running the event themselves, for that all-important Go-Pro footage, but we still both trekked a fair distance and got rather muddy ourselves over the weekend. The early mornings, cold toes and muddy knees were well worth it though, as we captured oodles of fab footage of the main Stampede run AND the Mini Stampede run; it was hard to trim the end video down to just under 4 minutes! We’re happy to say that Newcastle Racecourse were incredibly pleased with our “unbelievable work!” and we’d like to think that’s because we put a lot of effort into our planning and enjoyed filming it so much too!
